Unfortunately we regret to inform the fans that due to an unforseen set of circumstances, U2UK will not be able to play at The Shed in Leicester on Saturday 20th December.

We apologise to all those who were planning to attend, and invite you all to come and see the exciting new 2009 theatre show (watch this space for more details) at the Y Theatre, Leicester, on 27th June 2009 - we guarentee it will be worth the wait!

02-11-2008: What a month!...
Well, what can we say? Probably one of the most memorable months we’ve ever had! Let’s start with the best news…Mega congratulations to Simon and Sarah who have just had their first baby, a beautiful little girl, Lilly Grace Pellecchia (what a cool name!)
She was born in the early morning of October 17th and both Mum and baby are doing great! Simon and Sarah would like to give their thanks to all of you who sent good wishes, gifts and cards. You never know, this could be the start of the new all girl U2 tribute band, Miss The Edge!!

On to the month in band terms then. We kicked off with Scotland, a long anticipated event that proved to be one of the worst experiences of our life so far, starting with a pensioner running into our parked trailer with her mobility scooter. It just went from bad to worse, seriously, it’s the first time we’ve ever been threatened to be physically beaten up, not by fans, but by the Theatre Manager himself! He seemed to be seriously offended by us for some reason and nothing we did seemed to help. It’s the first time any of us have ever heard that our leaflets had to be collected up from seats because they were hazardous to the public, sharp enough to cut legs, slippery under foot, who knows what else?! That said we can only give our total appreciation to the Scottish fans that came along and turned what can only be described as a shocking afternoon to say the least into a brilliant night with a great and very enthusiastic crowd which made up for it and we’re in talks with the Carling Academy, so hope to be back to Glasgow next year all being well.

October also saw our first trip to the Burnley Mechanics, a great place, similar to the Muni, we had a great show and Nathan was able to incorporate their in house lighting which was spectacular, we’re already looking forward to our return visit next October. That said, we ended the night stranded on an A-road somewhere near Sheffield waiting for two recovery trucks to take our trailer one way and truck the other to fix the smashed clutch plate and bearings, it was a costly end to a great night as our own recovery company had gone into liquidation and not bothered to let us know!

Another new one for us, the Exmouth Pavilion, a theatre situated basically on the seafront. A great place and again we’re looking to return next year either summer time or in October. The load out on that night was the wettest we’ve had; it turned out to be a forerunner to the Devonshire storms.

We ended our month with a long overdue return to the Fleece in Bristol, a great turnout to what I felt was one of the most inspired performances we’ve played yet and a taster of what we will be bringing to you all during 2009.

That was it for October, around two and a half thousand miles of travelling, threats of physical violence, a broken van, a new baby and instant rebookings, how about that for a month!

Other news, after many years of searching I managed to come across a pair of genuine Bulgari 519 glasses for Tony, they cost us an arm and a leg but this is what we love about our job, we are always trying to make our show as authentic as we can and even the smallest thing can be huge for us. The search continues, you never know what we might find next!
In between the shows Nathan, Nato, Da Staysche, Station, however you know him, has been working like a dog, sleepless nights and long days to put together the band videos for the website. The man’s a genius, if he was paid by the hour he’d be a multimillionaire, he’s done a fantastic job as always, they’re brilliant!!

To finish up, we are working on a whole new show for next year and if you are members of the mailing list you will be aware that we’ve been asking you for your favourite U2 songs to help us to see what fans most want. Thanks to everyone who has replied so far, if you would like to have your say please email us at u2ukshow@ntlworld.com and give us your U2 top 10-to-20!
The new mailing list will be availble to join soon - with an exclusive free gift for subscribers.

- See you around, Ady
