U2UK – Probably the best U2 tribute act in the world...

When Carlsberg decided they wanted to put on a show for their staff and clients in Bucharest next weekend – they came straight to us after our huge success at the MediaPro Film studios Buftea, Romania back in December.
The event is being held at the prestigious Silver Church venue at the rear of the Romanian Opera house in the centre of Bucharest and promises to be one hell of a night till the early hours of the morning…

If Carlsberg did after show parties….
they’d probably be the best after show parties in the world!

Bangalore, India
We would like to apologies sincerely to all of our fans in Bangalore who were expecting to see us this week. Unfortunately due to a technicality with visa applications, we were unable to fly out this week. We are all very disappointed that we were unable to attend, as all of the band were geared up and ready to put on a great show at the outdoor amphitheatre in the centre of the city. Hopefully the visas will be resolved soon and we can look forward to returning to the beautiful city of Bangalore as soon as everything is in order.

The Mill, Oxfordshire
Thanks to everyone who came to see us at The Mill in Banbury, Oxfordshire last week. As always a great reception from the crowd in one of our more favourite venues to visit. Our thanks also to the local crew and in house technicians for their hard work in getting us loaded and rigged in time.

Stoney Stanton, Leicestershire
The UK theatre tour continues again this weekend in Stoney Stanton, a smaller more intimate venue who’s claim to fame on our tour is the only venue that sells burgers, and faggots and peas during the show. There is usually a very vocal crowd turn out, as the bars stock plenty of beer to wet your whistle and keep you singing through 2 hours of great U2 music.

Not you too??

They say that imitation is the highest form of flattery, but when we saw that U2 UK were billed as playing the live lounge in Cardiff last Thursday night, we thought there had at first been a booking error with the live lounge in Watford, who had contacted us to unfortunately cancel our show due to council noise restrictions.

After contacting the venue, we learned out that there was actually ANOTHER band calling themselves U2 UK booked to perform. As a band we often go to support other U2 tributes when we have the time off, as we enjoy listening to other bands perform U2’s masterpieces as much as we enjoy performing them ourselves, but we would please ask that if you see U2 UK billed to play at a venue and you are hoping to see our show – please check that it listed on our website to avoid disappointment.

Also, thanks to the brilliant audience at the Theatre Hafren on Friday night for making us feel so welcome at our first show in Newtown, Wales. We’re really looking forward to coming and see you all again soon, if you have any comments about our show you can post them here or on the facebook page

"Oh oh oh - The Swedish Thing"

Our first trip to Sweden was definitely a memorable one, landing at Stockholm Airport where we met our driver and then travelled to the ‘Konsert & Kongress’ building in Linköping through the open snow-covered Swedish countryside. We arrived at the venue which was a hub of activity, lots of community events going on in various function rooms, and in the main hall our sound and backline team were busy setting up our equipment for the night. We had been left wanting for nothing, the backline crew had gone out of their way to get every little item on our tech rider, so we felt home-from-home on stage.
We grabbed a coffee and set to work on sound checks and getting our IEM mixes set up using the universal hand gestures which seem to transcend every continent. The monitor team was really on the ball, and in no time at all, we were up to speed and it was time to grab some dinner, before heading to the hotel to get settled in and ready for the evening.
The opening to the first half was met with an excited atmosphere, the crowd being so appreciative of our ZooTv set that we added an extra song to the end of the first half set because we were enjoying the crowd’s participation so much.
We were standing in the wings ready to re-enter for our second half, 360 set, when we saw that one of the audience members, a local radio dj, was keeping the audience warm for us with jokes and sing-alongs, so when the lights dimmed and we walked onto the intro for ‘Get On Your Boots’ the audience were right there with us again rocking out. At the end of our second half set list, Tony decided “why don’t we do that thing where we go of the stage, and come back on: why don’t we just stay on the stage and finish the show?!” – much to the admiration of the audience who cheered loudly through the intro to with or without you.
After our final number we took our bows and shook the hands of those who had made their way to the front of the stage, and then headed to the green room…. But the crowd kept cheering, and cheering? and cheering?? A short conversation between the four of us and the management and we returned to the stage and cracked straight into U2’s first single, 'out of control'; the crowd bouncing along to the track from start to finish. The perfect end to a perfect show, and what an amazing audience!
We have already had a re-booking for next year, and we are really looking forward to coming back to Sweden for another awesome night.
